Peace

Overview

The only way to world peace is inner peace

Dr. Sfeir-Younis’s dedicated work on peace transcends political negotiations to address what he calls the “inner currents” of peace culture. His 2006 question “Is Peace Another Utopia?” challenges defeatism, arguing that peace is achievable but requires fundamentally different approaches than those attempted by governments and international institutions. Peace is not merely absence of war but presence of justice, dignity, inner calm, and collective healing.

Through annual peace meditations—from the Jefferson Memorial to Caracas to worldwide virtual gatherings—he has created spaces where thousands practice collective consciousness for planetary peace. His work links inner peace cultivation with outer peace manifestation: meditation not as escape but as preparation for engaged peace-building. His teachings at the National Press Club, Peace Alliance, and United Nations demonstrate that lasting peace requires spiritual foundations, not just diplomatic agreements.

His 2024 “Tao of Non-Violence” and 2025 vision of “Peace, Healing and Collective Consciousness” articulate comprehensive frameworks where individual inner work, community healing, and global transformation become unified practice. As UN Special Representative, his interviews and teachings emphasize that peace is both personal practice and political imperative—transformation of consciousness and transformation of systems working as one integrated path toward planetary healing.
